Don't be a VICTIM of THIS
It will RUIN your ENTIRE career
Hello, Hoodies!
As of this week, I’ve started taking free 10 minute calls to see if I can help people out (feel free to put 10 minutes on my calendar here)
The goal is simple:
Help you land a real job in tech as fast as possible so you can increase your income and change your life.
As a result, I’ve had over 40 conversations in the last 3 days. This alone was Monday:
And I’ve had every kind of conversation you could imagine in the last 3 days, from sharp dedicated individuals truly seeking clarity to those who I SWEAR smoked a full joint right before hopping on the call.
But THIS call today was different
Because I’ve seen this movie before.
This gentleman comes into the meeting. We briefly introduce ourselves and I ask him the same 4 questions I ask everybody:
Who are you?
Where do you live?
What are you currently doing for work?
What are your goals?
He proceeds to tell me that he’s 22
Been trying for 11 months to get a job (no red flags yet)
Got multiple interviews (Yellow Flag)
Was told by a “bad mentor” to put years of experience on his resume that he didn’t have (DARK Orange Flag)
And has Sec+, CyberARC certs, and Azure certs (RED FLAG)
Now, I know what you’re thinking:
“Evan, how are CyberARC certs a red flag???”
First, let me say, there is NOTHING wrong with CyberARC certs. In fact, they can be FANTASTIC for your career.
So what’s the problem??
I knew where this was going.
Can’t get a job. Fake experience on his resume. Interviews but no offers. I knew.
So I asked him point blank:
“Did you pay someone to take your exams for you?”
“YES”
Remember when I said I’ve seen this movie before?
Because I’ve had this exact same conversation with someone else a year ago.
Guy comes to me and says he’s getting interviews but he can’t get a job.
Said he lied on his resume so he’s getting interviews but no offers.
Then tells me he paid someone to take his exams for him.
The worst part is I proceeded to tell this new guy what the last guy said to justify his actions and he then proceeded to use the EXACT SAME justification. Like telling someone they’re going to intentionally crash their car before they do. It’s WILD to experience IRL.
I told both the last guy and the new guy the same thing:
If you want to work with me, you’re going to contact these cert vendors and admit that you cheated on your exams. Otherwise, I won’t work with you.
The first guy didn’t. And I, unfortunately, suspect the second guy won’t either.
Guys, these exams ARE NOT THAT HARD
WHY would you risk your ENTIRE CAREER on having someone take your SEC+ FOR YOU???
Learn the material like you damn well should. Otherwise you don’t deserve a job in this industry.
Anyway here’s the video version of this post if you want the juicy details straight from TikTok:

And if you haven’t, feel free to put 10 minutes on my calendar. Make sure to tell me you came from substack (y’all are the OGs)
Much love everyone. More great content coming up!
Cheers,
Evan
